Nigerian Dwarf Goat
Coat Modifiers
Chocolate
The most common modifier we see in the Nigerian Dwarf breed is Chocolate (brown). It is a dominant modifier located on the B Locus and is responsible for changing eumelanin (darker areas) of the coat to chocolate. Any black areas of the coat will be changed to chocolate and sometimes even tan or brown areas can be changed as well. Because this is a modifier that affects mostly eumelanin, the agouti pattern gold is usually unaffected. Some golds do show affects of the chocolate modifier.
